Art in the garden today and tomorrow!

Well the sun is shining which is great news because today and tomorrow we’re going to be giving over our glorious garden to a fantastic festival of art!  We’ve got the Summer Oxford Art Fair taking place all day today and tomorrow so don’t miss it!

We’ve got more than 40 artists from Oxford, Abingdon, Thame and further afield heading to The Fishes for this fantastic two day free art event which will transform the garden into an outdoor gallery filled with unique pieces of modern and contemporary art.

Paintings, sculptures and ceramics, photographs, jewellery and even antiques will be among the treasures on show, alongside their creators who will be on hand to share the stories behind the individual pieces.

Join us on either or both days this weekend and you can really soak up the festival atmosphere!  Enjoy a cool drink and maybe a bite to eat from our superb summer BBQ and picnic menus, plus live music and entertainment.

Wander round the garden and find a sunny or shady spot to sit back and enjoy the art works and decide whether there’s a piece for your home or office wall or a sculpture for your garden that you just have to have.  With prices starting at a very affordable £20-25, there really is something for everyone.

Budding artists of all ages can also get creative and take part in a summer art challenge to raise money for charity. Make a £1 donation to the Peach Foundation, which raises money to support community and conservancy projects in Oxfordshire and overseas and paint your work of art in miniature on a small canvas.  If you catch the judges’ eye, you could win a bottle of bubbly, a voucher to spend on food and drink at The Fishes and a trophy.

Today and tomorrow there will be live music and entertainment too, with the wonderful Ashnan Dance performing between 12 noon and 2pm and then a set by the Oxford Jazz Collective from 2pm to 4.30pm today. The Oxford Jazz Collective will be back again tomorrow playing from 4 to 6pm.  Watch out for competitions on both days and see if you can win a prize!

With two days of feasting, fun and fabulous art this year’s event is going to be more colourful than ever!  Make sure you pop along and bring the whole family!   See you there!
