14th May 2012 - Come on in, the waters fine!
Finally the road works from Botley to the fishes is nearly
at the end and normal service can be resumed. However we have 10 more days of
closures before we can all go back to normal! Until May 28th all our
guests still need to access us via the A34. We know this has caused quite a lot
of confusion and has been quite frustrating. However we are nearly there and
hopefully in time for the sun to come out. We thank you all for your patience
and with your loyalty in making the effort to come and find us still! We do
however have one last ask, on Wednesday May 16th North Hinskey
Lane, which is the road directly outside the pub shall be closed for the
day. This is being closed as they are tarmacking it all to bring it all back to
life! For this day only we are asking all our guests to park in the temporary
car park, which is located directly to the right after the turning left off the
A34. This shall be closed from 8.30am until 6pm, from which time you shall be
able to access the pub car park as normal.
Once again thank you all for all your help and we look
forward to welcoming you all to the Fishes.
Sausage o'clock is here to stay!
We are now serving great complimentary sausages in our bar every weeknight between 5.30pm and 6.30pm so pop in for an after work drink and a pre-dinner snack. Please remember to say hello to Snowball our pub pig who will greet you at the door.
Only a couple of minutes from either the Botley Road or the southbound A34, The Fishes is a hidden gem. Quite a big gem, too. The Fishes is an imposing Victorian building set in 3 acres of wooded grounds leading down to the banks of Seacourt Stream. On sunny days the gardens are dotted with picnickers, enjoying a picnic basket ordered from the bar, whilst the deck that wraps around the conservatory offers one of the few opportunities in land-locked Oxford to dine outside with an idyllic view. In recognition of this, the Fishes was named Al Fresco Dining Pub of the Year in 2006, as well as winning an award for its Sunday roast.
The Fishes also appears in the Michelin Guide 2008, 2009 & 2010
The Fishes is open every day with lunch served from noon, on Saturday and Sunday we serve Brunch from 10am till 11.45am in the bar and food is available all day every day. We take huge pride in serving the best ingredients we can find, from ethical producers, freshly prepared by our team of chefs. Whether you pop in for a pint, a business lunch, dinner with friends and family, or want to throw a barbecue for your friends in our garden we promise you a friendly welcome. All day long.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
